- I started in the web business 20 years ago
- I created an LLC for myself 11 years ago
- I hired my first employee 8 years ago
- We almost crashed 5 years ago
It wasn’t until 4 years ago I realized I was trying to do things alone. That’s not to say I didn’t have amazing people by my side who always had my back – those people are the only reason I’m still around doing what I love today.
However, I wasn’t intentional about two things:
- Having someone by my side who has been 5, 10, 15 steps ahead of me who I talked to week-over-week who knew my business well, and
- Being a part of a community of like-minded folks who I could count on to guide me through tough situations
4 years ago I brought on my executive advisor who I credit a majority of the growth we’ve had over the last few years to.
2 years ago, I joined EO Atlanta which has given me community and a place to ask any question to anyone.
Today, I read this quote:
A coach helps us to see the patterns and choose something different. A community helps us to feel supported and not so alone when things are tough.
Leo Babauta
If you are a founder of a company and don’t have a coach and a community, I highly recommend finding one if you can. Both have been a huge catalyst to the growth we’ve had at Classic City over the years.
