Always Ask The Question

I was talking to someone in one of my groups the last week or so. He was struggling to figure out where to find someone who could be a mentor and a coach for him. He asked me:

Where did you find your first mentor/coach?

The first mentor I had: I simply just asked.

Recently, I had a meeting with an advisor and towards the end of the conversation, I had a bold question pop into my mind. Rather than asking it 14 different ways and “inching my way” to an answer, I just asked.

Coming from someone who is a people-pleaser and extraordinarily passive, I’m slowly learning that in a lot of situations, it’s best to just put your cards on the table and see what happens.

This isn’t a truth that covers the entirety of life, but for those of us who are ultra-passive, it’s worth giving it a shot.

People are a lot nicer than we give them credit for.
