I’ve recently realized that I need to take more care when giving my opinion.
Yes, I run the company. If I need to make a locked-in final decision, I have the authority.
However, wielding that power isn’t always smart.
My unique vantage point is being able to see the forest. People on the team can see the trees.
My opinion on various matters may not always be accurate. I need to be able to segment my opinions between:
- Hard opinions: There is a firm line not to cross.
- Soft opinions: There is some general direction, but otherwise, ignore me.
I also need to make sure that I verbalize the difference – because without saying it out loud, communication gets murky and no one wins.
📚 I do recommend the Multiplier’s book.
